1. Summary
SanctissiMissa is an offline-first liturgical reference application for the Traditional Latin Mass (1962 Missale Romanum). We do not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information. There is no user account, no registration, and no login. All personal data (annotations and notes) stays on your device.
2. Information We Collect
2a. Information we do NOT collect
- Name, email address, phone number, or any other identifier
- Location data
- Contacts or calendar data
- Device camera or microphone access
- Financial or payment information
- Health or biometric data
- Files or media from your device
2b. Anonymous analytics data (web and PWA only)
On the web and Progressive Web App (PWA) versions, we use Firebase Analytics (provided by Google) to collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics. This may include:
- App open events
- Approximate session length
- Which liturgical dates and feasts are viewed
- Which Mass sections are read
- Whether search or annotation features are used
- Reader settings changes (font size, typeface)
- Device type, operating system, and browser (in aggregate)
- Anonymous installation identifier assigned by Firebase
This data is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you personally. It is used solely to understand how the app is used in aggregate, to improve features and fix bugs.
Android, Windows, and Linux native app versions do not currently send analytics data.
3. How We Use Information
Anonymous analytics data is used to:
- Understand which features are used and improve the user experience
- Identify crashes or errors
- Prioritise development work
We do not sell, share, or license any data to third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Third-Party Services
Firebase Analytics (Google LLC)
The web/PWA version uses Firebase Analytics, a service provided by Google LLC.
- Firebase Analytics may collect anonymous identifiers and usage events as described in Section 2b.
- Data is processed by Google under its own privacy policies.
- Firebase Analytics privacy policy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Google privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
DivinumOfficium Liturgical Corpus
The liturgical texts bundled in the app are derived from the DivinumOfficium open-source project (MIT licensed). No data is sent to the DivinumOfficium project or its maintainers.
5. Data Stored on Your Device
Annotations and notes
Any annotations, highlights, or personal notes you create are stored only on your device using local storage (IndexedDB/SQLite). This data is never transmitted to us or any third party. It is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear app data.
Reader preferences
Your reader settings (font size, typeface, column width) are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted.
Liturgical database
The complete liturgical corpus (liturgical.db, approximately 9–27 MB) is bundled inside the application. It is read-only and is never modified or uploaded.
6. Children's Privacy
SanctissiMissa does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). The app contains no features targeting children and does not require or collect any personal data from any user of any age.
7. Data Retention
Since we do not collect personal data, there is no personal data to retain or delete. Anonymous Firebase Analytics data is retained by Google according to Firebase's own data retention policies (typically 14 months by default). You may request deletion of Firebase Analytics data associated with your anonymous installation identifier by contacting us.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights including:
- The right to know what data is held about you
- The right to request deletion of your data
- The right to opt out of analytics
Since we collect no personal data, most of these rights are satisfied by default. To opt out of anonymous Firebase Analytics on the web/PWA, you may use browser privacy controls, an ad-blocker, or a browser privacy extension.
To exercise any data rights, contact us at the address below.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at the URL where this policy is hosted, with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
